The town of Yate, located in Gloucestershire, England, harbours an intriguing industrial past that many might overlook. Notably, it was home to the Parnall aircraft company during World War II. Parnall was instrumental in Britain's war effort, manufacturing parts for the legendary Spitfire and Lancaster airplanes. But the town's history with flight goes beyond wartime contributions. In the 1960s, Yate was the birthplace of the Concorde's droop nose, a key design element that allowed the supersonic jet to land safely. This innovative engineering feat was developed at the Parnall factory, cementing Yate's place in aviation history.
