Worksop, a town in Nottinghamshire, England, is often referred to as the "Gateway to the Dales", owing to its proximity to the Peak District National Park. However, less known is the fact that Worksop is home to one of the oldest continuously inhabited houses in the country - Mr Straw's House. This Edwardian semi-detached house belonged to the Straw family, who were grocers in the town. When the last Straw brother died in the late 20th century, the house was found to be a perfect time capsule of life in the early 20th century, complete with original furnishings and personal belongings. The house is now maintained by the National Trust and open to the public, offering a unique glimpse into the past.

The town was once home to the Worksop and Retford Brewery, which was one of the largest employers in the town. In fact, the brewery was so prominent that it even had its own railway system to transport beer to other parts of the country. Whilst the original brewery has long since closed, the town's brewing heritage lives on in the form of Worksop's own microbrewery, the Welbeck Abbey Brewery. Worksop ( WURK-sop) is a market town in the Bassetlaw District in Nottinghamshire, England. It is located 15 miles (24 km) south of Doncaster, 15 miles (24 km) south-east of Sheffield and 24 miles (39 km) north of Nottingham. Located close to Nottinghamshire's borders with South Yorkshire and Derbyshire, it is on the River Ryton and not far from the northern edge of Sherwood Forest. Other nearby towns include Chesterfield, Gainsborough, Mansfield and Retford. The population of the town was recorded at 44,733 in the 2021 Census.
