Royal Wootton Bassett, located in Wootton Bassett, Wiltshire, England, boasts an intriguing historical peculiarity as it is one of the few towns in the United Kingdom to have been granted the prefix 'Royal'. This honour was bestowed upon the town in 2011 by Queen Elizabeth II, as a mark of respect and gratitude for the poignant tributes it paid to British soldiers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan.
