But the most unique aspect is the 'Hole of Horcum', a massive natural amphitheatre located just a few miles from Pickering. This extraordinary geographical formation, stretching approximately 400 feet deep and half a mile across, is steeped in local folklore. Legend has it that the 'Hole of Horcum' was created by a giant, who scooped up a handful of earth to throw at his wife during a heated argument.
