Did you know ?
Perth and Kinross, located in the heart of Scotland, holds a unique place in the country's history as the original capital. The 'Fair City' of Perth, as it is affectionately known, was indeed Scotland's capital until the mid-15th century. Its strategic location on the banks of the River Tay made it an important settlement in the early history of Scotland, and it was here that the Stone of Destiny, upon which Scottish kings were traditionally crowned, was originally housed before it was moved to Scone Palace, a historic site that remains a significant tourist attraction in Perth and Kinross today.

Wikipedia Says
Perth and Kinross (Scots: Pairth an Kinross; Scottish Gaelic: Peairt agus Ceann Rois) is one of the 32 council areas of Scotland, and a lieutenancy area. It is bordered by Highland and Aberdeenshire to the north, Angus, Dundee, and Fife to the east, Clackmannanshire to the south, and Stirling and Argyll and Bute to the west. Perth is the administrative centre. The council area corresponds to the historic shire of Kinross-shire and the north-eastern part of Perthshire; the remainder of Perthshire is now part of Stirling. Perthshire and Kinross-shire shared a county council from 1929 until 1975, and from 1975 to 1996 Perth and Kinross was a local government district within the Tayside region. In 1996 the district was reconstituted as a unitary authority area, with a minor boundary adjustment. Geographically the area is split by the Highland Boundary Fault into a more mountainous northern part and a flatter southern part. The northern area is a popular tourist spot, while agriculture makes an important contribution to the southern part of the area. The area is run by Perth and Kinross Council, and is represented by members of the Scottish National Party within both the Scottish Parliament and the Parliament of the United Kingdom.
