Fun Fact !
Padstow also has a fascinating geographical aspect that sets it apart. The town is situated at the head of the Camel Estuary and was historically an important port for the shipping of goods like wine, tobacco, and textiles. However, what is particularly intriguing is the Doom Bar, a sandbar located at the mouth of the estuary. The Doom Bar has been notorious for causing numerous shipwrecks over the centuries, and it even features in a popular local legend that attributes its existence to a mermaid's curse. Today, it is the namesake of a popular beer brewed in the town, once again underscoring the strong connection between Padstow's unique geography and its vibrant local culture.
