Newmarket, located in Suffolk, England, is globally recognised as the birthplace and global centre of horse racing. However, few might know that the town is home to over 3,000 racehorses, outnumbering the human population in certain parts of the town. This unique scenario has necessitated the construction of 'horsewalks', a network of paths and tunnels specifically designed to allow horses to move safely around the town, even having right of way over cars. This intricate system, combined with the town's two racecourses and fifty-plus training yards, makes Newmarket a truly equine-centric town unlike any other in the United Kingdom.
