One captivating aspect of Moretonhampstead's history is its association with the wool trade. In the 16th century, it was a prosperous centre of the wool industry. This led to a significant increase in its population and wealth, with many of its ancient buildings, such as the Church of St. Andrew, being expanded and upgraded during this period of prosperity.
