Fun Fact !
Another fascinating facet of Llanrwst is its resilience and independence. In the 13th century, the town declared itself independent from the diocese of Llanelwy, with the support of the powerful Llywelyn the Great. Llanrwst even had its own coat of arms and flag. In a display of this independent spirit, in 1947, the town's council made an audacious claim to the United Nations that Llanrwst was an independent state within Wales. Although this claim was not recognised officially, it remains a testament to the town's enduring spirit of independence and unique place in Welsh history.
