The Town of Largs, located in North Ayrshire, Scotland, holds a distinct place in the annals of Scottish history. Its coastal location was the backdrop for the Battle of Largs in 1263, a pivotal event in the Scottish-Norwegian War. The conflict arose when the Kingdom of Norway attempted to reassert its dominance over the western seaboard of Scotland. The resulting battle saw the Scots successfully resist the Norwegian invasion. Now, every September, the town commemorates this victory with the Largs Viking Festival. This event features a grand Viking village re-enactment, complete with a Viking longship, where visitors can immerse themselves in the town's medieval past.
