The Town of Kinross, tucked away in the heart of Scotland's Perth and Kinross district, is steeped in a rich and varied history. One aspect that stands out is its connection to the Jacobite uprising in 1715. It served as a strategic location for the Jacobite forces led by William Mackintosh of Borlum. The uprising was a significant event in Scotland's history, aimed at restoring the Stuarts to the British throne. Kinross House, a grand country estate, was built during this tumultuous period by Sir William Bruce, a renowned architect and staunch Jacobite supporter. The house is considered one of the finest examples of early classical architecture in Scotland, and its construction commenced the day before the Jacobite uprising, symbolising a quiet defiance against the ruling Hanoverians.

Wikipedia Says

Perth and Kinross (Scots: Pairth an Kinross; Scottish Gaelic: Peairt agus Ceann Rois) is one of the 32 council areas of Scotland, and a lieutenancy area. It is bordered by Highland and Aberdeenshire to the north, Angus, Dundee, and Fife to the east, Clackmannanshire to the south, and Stirling and Argyll and Bute to the west. Perth is the administrative centre. The council area corresponds to the historic shire of Kinross-shire and the north-eastern part of Perthshire; the remainder of Perthshire is now part of Stirling. Perthshire and Kinross-shire shared a county council from 1929 until 1975, and from 1975 to 1996 Perth and Kinross was a local government district within the Tayside region. In 1996 the district was reconstituted as a unitary authority area, with a minor boundary adjustment. Geographically the area is split by the Highland Boundary Fault into a more mountainous northern part and a flatter southern part. The northern area is a popular tourist spot, while agriculture makes an important contribution to the southern part of the area. The area is run by Perth and Kinross Council, and is represented by members of the Scottish National Party within both the Scottish Parliament and the Parliament of the United Kingdom.
