Hunstanton possesses a rich historical heritage, the most remarkable of which is associated with the tale of Saint Edmund, the original patron saint of England. Legend has it that Saint Edmund landed at Hunstanton in AD 855, where he was crowned King of East Anglia. The Hunstanton Hall estate, which has its roots embedded in the 14th century, is said to have a 'haunted' garden maze. This maze is associated with a local legend of a ghostly figure of a man, believed to be the spirit of a former resident, Sir Hamon Le Strange, who is said to haunt the grounds.
