These twin water towers, officially named the Goole Docks Towers, were built in the 1880s to provide a pressurised water supply for the hydraulic system at Goole Docks. Intriguingly, these structures are not identical. The 'Salt' tower is slightly taller and has a pointed roof, while the 'Pepper' tower has a flat roof. Despite their utilitarian purpose, these towers have become synonymous with Goole's identity, adding a distinctive touch to the town's skyline and serving as a reminder of its rich industrial heritage.
