Did you know ?
Gateshead, a town in Tyne and Wear, England, is home to the iconic Angel of the North, one of the most discussed and recognised pieces of public art ever produced. However, what many do not realise is the sculpture's colossal size and weight. The Angel of the North stands at 20 metres tall - higher than a five-storey building and with a wingspan of 54 metres, it is wider than the Statue of Liberty is tall. Crafted from 200 tonnes of steel, it is designed to last for at least a century and withstand winds of up to 100 miles per hour, which is a testament to the industrial history of Gateshead and the North East of England.

The print works were so vast that at its height of production in the 19th century, it was said that half of all books in England were printed in Gateshead.
