Another intriguing facet of Garstang is its annual tradition known as the 'Garstang Show'. This agricultural and horticultural event, held annually in August since 1809, is an integral part of the town's cultural fabric. Showcasing the best of farming, food, and rural living, the show features a variety of competitions, exhibitions, and displays, from livestock and horse events to horticulture and crafts. But perhaps the most unusual element is the 'Cheese Rolling Competition', a quirky contest where participants chase a round of cheese down a hill, adding a unique touch to a traditional country show.
