Fraserburgh, a fascinating town in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, is home to the Kinnaird Head Lighthouse, a structure of significant historical importance. The lighthouse, built in 1787, is unique because it was not constructed as a standalone structure. Instead, it was ingeniously built into an existing 16th-century castle, the Kinnaird Castle, making it the first lighthouse in Scotland to be lit by the Northern Lighthouse Board. Today, the lighthouse functions as the Museum of Scottish Lighthouses, offering visitors a glimpse into the evolution of lighthouses and their critical role in maritime safety.
