The Town of Edgware, located in Greater London, carries a rich and varied history. One particularly intriguing snippet from its past involves the historic Railway Station that was a central part of the community. The Edgware railway station was opened in 1867 by the Great Northern Railway and was a significant point on the line that connected the town to central London. The station was closed in 1964 as part of the controversial Beeching cuts, which significantly reduced the UK's railway network. The station and its tracks have since been removed, but the original station house still stands, serving as a poignant reminder of Edgware's past. It is now a listed building and a noteworthy symbol of the town's transportation history.

Edgware is principally a shopping and residential area, identified in the London Plan as one of the capital's 35 major centres, and one of the northern termini of the Northern line. It has a bus garage, a shopping centre called the Broadwalk Centre, a library, a community hospitalEdgware Community Hospital, and two streamsEdgware Brook and Deans Brook, both tributaries of a small brook known as Silk Stream, which in turn merges with the River Brent at Brent Reservoir.
