This spectacular flight of locks was engineered by John Rennie and took over five years to build, being completed in 1810. The Caen Hill Locks are now considered one of the 'seven wonders of the waterways' and serve as a popular tourist attraction. The story of the canal's construction and its role in shaping the town's development adds another layer to the rich tapestry of Devizes' history.
