Fun Fact !
Another fascinating aspect of Crediton lies in its economic history. Crediton was a significant market town in medieval times due to an abundance of fertile land suitable for farming. This fertility led to the establishment of a thriving wool industry, which was the backbone of the town's economic prosperity for centuries. The wool trade's significance is still reflected in the town's architecture, with numerous old wool merchants' houses scattered around the town. Interestingly, Crediton was also renowned for the production of 'Devonshire Kerseys,' a type of narrow, coarse woollen cloth. This underlines the town's historical importance, not just agriculturally, but in the textile industry as well.
