Did you know ?

The town of Corsham, nestled in the heart of Wiltshire, England, is steeped in a rich history that may not be apparent at first glance. One of the town's most intriguing attributes is its connection with the English quarrying industry. Corsham is renowned for its labyrinth of underground quarries, primarily Bath Stone Quarries, which have been mined for Bath stone since the Roman times. This golden-hued, oolitic limestone was used extensively in the building and construction industry across the United Kingdom, including the construction of the UNESCO World Heritage Site in Bath City. The abandoned quarries have since been repurposed for various uses, including secure data storage, film sets, and even a mushroom farm during the World War II era.
