Steeped in rich history and culture, the Town of Antrim, located in County Antrim, Ireland, harbours a hidden gem quite unique to its locale. The Antrim Castle Gardens, a historical landmark, is an absolute marvel, dating back to the 17th century. Fun Fact !
Another lesser-known aspect of Antrim is its contribution to aviation history. During World War II, Antrim housed one of Northern Ireland's most significant airfields - RAF Aldergrove. It was from here that many pilots took off to participate in the Battle of the Atlantic, an important campaign to control the Atlantic sea routes. Post-war, this airfield evolved into what is now known as Belfast International Airport, the second largest airport in Ireland. This transformation from a military base to a bustling civil airport not only showcases Antrim's adaptability but also its pivotal role in shaping the region's aviation landscape.
