Aberystwyth, situated on the west coast of Wales, is home to the 'National Library of Wales' which notably holds one of just 24 surviving copies of the Magna Carta, a cornerstone of British constitutional law. The library, established in 1907, also houses over six million books and periodicals, a million maps, and half a million photographs. Beyond being a repository of Welsh cultural heritage, this institution is one of only six legal deposit libraries in the United Kingdom and Ireland, thereby it is entitled to receive a copy of every book published in the UK.
